Default Are windshields replaced by safelite better than the oem piece?

Im having my windshield replaced this week by safelite and wondered if they may be stronger in general and contain the black ceramic dots behind the rearview mirror. Another thing that ran across my mind was the fact that the oem one sheds rain off pretty good. Do the aftermarket pieces have the same coating? Thanks in advanced!

i'm not going to lie bud... i've had that stock POS for almost 4 years and 80k... i think any windshield with rain-x will work just fine

my only huge huge huge huge.... say again.... huge.... complaint, is that the angle of the windshield/height of the car seems to catch every rock chip known to man

never have i ever owned a car with so many damn rock chips... almost makes me want to replace just for that

ha... yeah... especially with that winter sun sitting so damn low in the sky. It is pretty terrible. All I know is that the rear window was $800 when someone threw a rock through it. I'll live with the front one as is for a little while longer ....

safelite is pretty cheap, like under 200 for a front windshield, no?

Does the SafeLite have the exact same dot matrix as OEM? Maybe we can compare them one day to show everyone the exact differences between OEM and SafeLite?

Well for me it's not so much chips *knock on wood* that are an issue. More than that, it's the fact that the windshield looks sandblasted. It's particularly bad when the sun hits it. It looks aweful.

For me it's the issue of making sure there no streaks at all on it. I'm **** like that. As for chips, I have one in middle of my normal view so it kinda bugs me. Windshield is all around pretty clean and smooth tho... Rain-X is a must IMO

Mine was cracked by the first stone at 1k miles. My first Safelite was great until the rear view mirror fell off in my hand at 3k miles (took a creator of glass with it). They replaced it for free and at 47k miles, its still fine.

I'd go back.
