Default Door Handles....

I did a search and didn't really find an answer to my question.

I'm not sure of the previous years but I have an '08 and I'm curious to know why the hell did Nissan give the passenger side a door handle while the driver side got a different kind? Why not make them the same???

Just curious that's all......

Wat? Pics please? You mean one side has a lock and the other doesn't?

yeah, that makes a lot more sense.... Maybe it's because the driver would be too busy driving, to hold on to a handle with his left hand?

Sorry to clarify my post it is extactly what tonester1011 said.... how one is a pull type handle and the driver side isn't.

I don't recall any other car I've been in that was like that. Hell I didn't even notice that until my girlfriend pointed it out about two weeks after buying the car....lmao.

I guarantee you have been in a car like that. Just about EVERY car is like that. You know those "oh $h1t" handles every car has above the door but not for the driver? That's the Z's version. The driver needs to keep his hands on the wheel, while your passenger is holding on for dear life.

Well I know that most cars such as the corvette's had the handle on the dash and things. It's just kinda ackward looking in the interior and noticing that it's completely different...

It is indeed the "oh ****" handle.

Not saying this is why it is absent...but this thread reminded me of an accident I came upon one night leaving the beach. This crazy drunk woman lost control of her car and slammed into a guardrail. It was like 3am and no one was around so we stopped to see if we could help (this was before everyone had cell phones). The door was crushed in, pinning her hand between it and the steering wheel! She was otherwise perfectly fine and in no pain, but **** drunk and trapped because her hand was stuck. 1/2" more=crushed. 1/2" less=her leaving the scene to avoid a DUI. We left and called the cops from a pay phone so they could free her.

lol, i knew there would be thread created in honor of this question...

i'm currently looking for a "DOOR HANDLE GRIP LEFT SIDE 350Z BLACK NISSAN OEM NEW" on ebay and came up with nothing. I was hoping some Brit or Japanese person would have a spare, lol. I'm redoing my interior and thought about adding a custum LEFT side grip to shut my door. I really don't care for the pocket (which is currently all scratched to hell).

I posted this question over a year ago, but never could find a JDM version. You will need a JDM pull handle and some modification to make it work.

Just a heads up. Those handles aren't THAT strong. Another member was holding the one in my Z while I was navigating the auto-x course and he ripped it halfway off in one of the slaloms.

Cost $24 to replace it a couple days later.

the drivers side has a handle on the window switch cover. its simply for pulling the door closed. the passenger side has the oh **** handle to pull it closed while its window switch panel is flat

pfft...mine was completely ripped out by a passenger during a turn, then i went to the dealership to get that handle replaced, and they told me "sure thing, for about $500"...they wanted to replace the entire door panel. I ordered the parts myself from another dealership for $24. Haven't gone back to that other dealership since.

slightly off topic, does anyone else think our door panels are incredibly cheap?

I'm a big dude (6'5") so I couldn't have a handle on the driver's side if I wanted it.

I'm glad Nissan left that off and gave me a little extra space
