Default Autozone PILOT SHIFT ****!

I Know! I Know! I cant believe it myself! but I actually was walking down the ricer isle of autozone!!! However, Im very glad i did!!!

I love the feel and comfort of this shift ****! I cant stand the stock shift **** during summer time because i always burn the heck out of my palm on the exposed metal parts!

but I doubt ill have any problems with this one! its all rubbery/fake leathery...i dont know what its made of actually but im sure it wont burn me...

I really like the feel 100X more than the stock ****!

It has red stitching but after installing it i liked it! the hazard button red and seat belt plastic stands out! believe it or not! it's something u have to see in person!

whatcha think...

This is with the screw on round finisher that the **** comes with when you buy it:

This is with the HOME DEPOT - Ballcock washer - (red packaging - in plumbing section near toilet bowl repair parts):

Another pic with stock round and you can see the rubber ballcock washer sitting there:

I havent decided which one im gonna roll with??

Here is the package the shift **** came in..well sorta...
Its a (PILOT PM-2245E)

Also, this shift **** is the slip on type and comes with an assortment of plastic sleeves...its main securing method is three really small allen key attaching pins that grab the oem shift SHAFT....that actually works fine, but me being the engineer and all.... i decided for a more secure route...

I went back to autozone and purchased 1 package with 2 M10X1.25 nuts. while i was there i bought a M10X1.25 bolt as well - sorta long bolt...about 2-3 inches or so...
Got home and busted out my handy dandy welder and put the 2 nuts together on the bolt and welded them. Then i took it to the grinder and cleaned up the welds.. I left enough weldment on there that when i got a rubber mallet and hammered the nuts inside the shaft of the shift ****. now i can screw the shift **** on just like the OEM shift ****...

I still used the three allen keys -- why not...

believe me this thing isnt going anywhere..
ill try and add pics later of the welded nuts...

UPDATE:
Added pics of carbon fiber overlay over Home depot ballcock washer. also attached below:

horrible... I'd rather burn the hell out of my hand than degrade the look of my Z with something like that. No offense intended, just my brutally honest opinion...

on a second look, you should have saved the money and bought some dam cleaning products for your interior or somethin! looks kinda beat up in there around the shifter.

LOL I have an all aluminum round ball type **** in my Z right now I bought at Pep Boys. It's a knock off of a Momo. I bought it just to see how I liked the feel of a round ball type **** because I hated the stock. I did like the weight of the stock **** though but could not stand the shape or the height.

The **** I bought is actually really nice looking and feels nice but it is wayyyy too light weight, so I ordered a Tommy Kaira ****, should be here in a couple weeks or so. I'm going to modify the Tommy **** and lever to make it sit lower like a short throw. When I get done with it, it will not require that freaken toilet or any finisher.

I did make one very simple mod to the cheap pep boys **** to allow it to be clamped in place with two 10mm nuts?? (cant remember) instead of using the cheesy alen set screws and it sits as low as if it was a short throw shifter. It's mounted as solid as the stock ****. If you wanted to, you could tighten it down with as many FP of torque as the lever threads can handle.

I'm actually putting the same **** in my new truck too because it is so easy to mount it solidly but it's just too light for the notchy Z.

I'll try to post a pic of it tomorrow.

But yea I'm not feeling that style **** but if you like it cool. If you didn't say where you bought people would have not said so much about it.

Autozone shift **** is not something you should parade us with. It looks cheap and should never be put in a Z....

I don't get why people insist so intently to replace the OEM ****. Even in Colorado's hot summers, I have never felt much heat from the tiny metal plate on the ****.

The only aftermarket **** I would consider to be worth changing to is Tommy K. The Nismo ones are much too small for my hands.
