Default Nissan Racing Tow Hook? Ebay

Hey all.

i was just browsing ebay and found this:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/05-06...spagenameZWDVW

Is this a part actually made by nissan? Or is it just some generic thing, that fits all Zs?

I kinda like the way it looks, but Im not gonna spend 70 bucks on some piece of $h!t.

Thanks.

-Paul

its just "racey" looking I guess. It can add a flare of color if you do the colored ones. iuno it think it looks cool on some cars, and looks retarded on others...

I have one, and its a piece of garbage.

Everything you see thats silver, will rust. And quickly. Its a show piece at best. I switched back to the OEM tow hook for track usage.

Hell, if you want one I will sell you my red one for $15 (just to cover shipping), and you can decide for yourself.

I really wanted the blue one, cuz im trying to get a theme of blue going. I mean I suppose I could just unscrew before it rains right?

Is it durable?

Are you asking if you'll be able to tow the car with it? Because the answer to that is "probably". I never had to use it when I had it on. It certainly seems structurally sound enough to manage.

The finish of the shaft part (the uncolored section) is just really cheesy, and like I said will rust very quickly upon exposure to elements. I'm sure if you wanted to baby it and take it on and off, you could prolong the good looks. But that seems like a lot of work for a tow hook, lol. Like I posted, its a nice show piece and thats about it. If you really like the looks of it, you could buy one and refinish it.

whats funny is a seriously doubt that tow hook is even functional, I bet it would break under the weight of the car being pulled.

Running a tow hook is pretty rice in my opinion, if you crash have the tow hook handy...put it in. If you cant put in in after you crashed then its probably totaled.

you say this as though you would drive with it on there; the one on that fleaBay ad in particluar looks like it would flop around while driving, which wouldn't be too kind to your painted parts surrounding it.

It is hinged, but you can tighten the allen screws on either side of the ring to hold it in a static position. So no, it will not flop around.
