There is also a weight on the hatch itself for the non-wing Zs. I guess its suppposed to balance the weight of having the stock wing installed. Removing this can help the hatch pop up more as well.

the latch mechanism pops the trunk very fast and hard. It then falls back into the latch half way getting it stuck. Try holding down the button until you open the trunk.
