Default Door Dent

Hey guys, i just picked up an 08 Z about 3 months ago...
woke up this morning to a dent on the driver door
i buffed it out, seems like it also chipped the paint, you guys really don't know how pissed i am, i'm susre some dude slammed his door into mine, it'a obvious...

well i went to a private body shop and they said it'd be a 135 bucks to fix the dent, now he said, if i wanted to repaint it it'd 750 and the color might be off a little, i'm not taking my chances...

I need advice, would the best thing to do, be taking it to the dealer? you know any good places around Los angeles, where they do a good job? and what would be the easiest way to fix the paint...

Thanks a lot guys

To fix the dent -> PDR (paintless dent repair)

To fix the paint chip -> touch up paint or take it to a reputable shop (shouldn't cost $750 -- $100 or less at the most)

That's not bad. Someone threw a car battery at my door. They hit it right below the window on the curvy part. Nobody can pull it out so I will need a replacement door.

Try this:

and let me know if it works. I've got a few dings as well.

you may want to settle for touch up paint like what was said above. 750 to paint your door seems a little steap to me assuming they are using paint the same quality as the factories. There is no reason they shouldn't be able to match the color to unnoticable levels. I had a Dakota that had bad scratches on the outside of the bed. The whole driver side of my truck bed was repainted and the truck was 3 years old and I could see no difference in color. it cost a little over 500 bucks, all done at a very reputable body shop in my area. I'm sure other places would have done it for less.

Default you are getting ripped

I got a whole baseball size dent, with chipped paint, and a dented bumper fixed for $585 out the door, perfect match.

Do a search for 1 Day Auto Body and Paint, they did it for me, they have shops all over So Cal.

They use Dupont paint.

Many top PDR guys are also skilled in scratch and chip repair and can custom-mix paint to match without charging an arm and a leg., since many dents and dings result in chips. I know of a shop in Denver that is known for just that.

I would suggest checking with your local members on such a PDR shop or mobile technician. If they don't know, call your Nissan dealer for recommendations; every now and then, new cars require such repair before sale.

Contact your dealer, find where they take their dented car for repair and go from there.

$750 sounds about right because first they would have to remove the dent. Then they would have to sand down the area of the paint chip. Paint it to match. The they would have to clearcoat the whole side of the car to match it perfect without one area look newer than the other.

thanks for all the info guys...
just wondering has anyone had touch up paint done to their car?
is it noticable at all?

and also, i went to another dent removal body shop, they said they'd be able to get the dent out, and do touch up paint on the chip for about 185....
what you guys think?

I have a buddy it LA (also a Z owner) who does PDR work on the weekends. I bet he can do it for a lot less than 750.
