Alright this isnt really "exterior" nor "interior" styling but a styling issue nonetheless.

I aem dual intakes from a member, cool guy too. and got a great price.
The pipes are colored black with high temp paint though.
I was thinking i would remove the paint so its the polished state.

How should i go about doing this? i dont wanna use thinner if it will discolor the original polish?

(im not good with paint subjects, so sorry if this is a stupid Q )

Aircraft stripper, you can get it at the local AutoZone. This stuff is nasty & used by professional painters, use gloves, read all directions, use in well ventilated area. You will need plenty of water to clean the chemical & paint away when finished.

This chemical eats away the paint, ery similar to paint stripper for indoor home use to remove multiple layers of paint. Not sure what the stripper will do to your AEM intake, you might want to test a small area ina location that is not exposed to the eye. Option 2 is to wet sand the paint off with 1000 grit wet/dry sandpaper.

 

alright thanks. i guess ill try the stripper in a small spot and if it does something to it, ill use the sandpaper.
