Default Issues with my seibon cf trunk..after 1 yr

I have had the CF trunk from Seibon for about a year now. And the more time passes the more and more cracks are showing up on it. I do not ever open the trunk. The shocks are removed from underneath it. And when i do open it im very careful with it as i am with with everything on my car.
The cracks are EVERYWHERE on the trunk. Top, bottom, sides...and i dont know how or where they're coming from. You can actually feel the cracks. And i dont think a item like this should be this sensitive and cracking this easy. I swear i see more and more cracks after a lil bump on the street. I have had several seibon hoods, the sides are cf and didnt have any issues with it like this. If anything cracked it was at my fault. I just love my car so much and im a little upset about it.
But just thought I give some people heads up about it and see if anyone else had that problem.
here is a picture of it..and then one of the Z. =).
I am not here to bash on a product. But maybe give a heads up to Seibon.

Just curious why you took the shocks off?? Car looks HOT by the way. Sorry you're not pleased with it.

the shocks are too strong. it leave about a half inch gap between the trunk and quarter panel. You could put a finger in it easly..it sits perfect once you take them off. I mean, im happy with the products fitment. The benefit of the weight loss. But The cracks are cosmetic...and its just..ugly..lol

Sucks, but not suprising on a cf hatch. Its probably just from vibration/shock from driving.

I have a few in my cf hatch myself (not seibon).

I have the same hatch, but i had it cleared by my bodyshop when it was put on. Ive had it for about a year and it still looks brand new. You could prolly have a shop clear it for you if you want, it would get rid of the cracks and protect it better

Default Perhaps...

you could paint match the hatch...or the clear might be an option.

Slightly off topic...how much would it cost to clear a CF hatch (ie. Seibon/Mastergrade)?

The exposed carbon fiber definitely looks hot on some cars. However, that is one of the reasons why I will never go that route, unless of course I paint it. I'd hate to know I spent that much on something that will be killed by the sun and the elements, so quickly. If it took GM using clear that costs $2,000 a gallon to protect the CF on the ZR-1 for the life of the car, then I definitely don't have the cash flow to do it correctly. Just my opinions.

Exactly, and it's so played out.

I don't understand why people that want CF don't just buy some sort of overlay or have it airbrushed.

If you want the weight savings, ditch the glass window, get the CG and then paint it.

Are you serious? Go do some research and see how much weight difference the stock hatch from the cf hatch is.
Paint it to make it look like cf? wow...someone steal his Z before he starts modding it.
Carbon fiber is not played out dude. Its timeless. =)

Off topic... but what skirts??? Car is dope. CF is dope - when used
properly. On this car, it works big time. Clear should be a huge help.
Cleared my skirts and they have worn great and look glossy.

I think he meant paint the CF so you don't have all the issues.

CG could be CF suffering from a typo.
