Default Painting Costs

Just out of curiousity...

What does it usually cost to get a reputable shop to paint things like a front lip....a new spoiler....side skirts....?

I was thinking about getting something...but the painting costs scare me.

Depends on your area and the shops there. For a lip look to spend $100-$125, around the same for a spoiler. Side skirts $175-225.

Sounds reasonable for a 3 stage paint job, this is what is on the Z cars

I did that based on what I'd charge. From the other responses it seems like I'm on par with the other areas. I think you may have gotten confused on my skirt price. The way I said it it looks like I mean $175-225 for both sides. I actually meant that per skirt.

I've seen a guy on here show one DB that was a tri coat. The DB, CS, and SS I've sprayed were all just BC/CC.

I had a hood painted well for $300. I had a bumper painted bleh
for $300. Same shop did both. Won't return there, but have struggled
to find good quality paint work in Florida in general.

I just paid $880 for getting Nismo front lip, side skirts and rear skirts painted. Just paint - no install.

Paint came out perfect and a dead-on match.

Get what you pay for...I've seen tons of off-color paint projects on Z's from this site.

yep, get what you pay for. a bunch of my co-workers got maaco paint jobs for their entire cars for cheaper than a good shop estimated for just my kit. think about it and don't just jump on a cheap deal. look at the shops work before you decide. a good shop will charge whatever they like because getting paint is like going to surgery, if you really care you'll pay for the best. you're trusting your car with someone and it'll be either exactly how you wanted or you can save money and get a decent but not great job.

880 for a lip kit tho.. (i paid 950 for my body kit with paint/install and i get complements every day)
there is a line.
400 for a lip kit can get you a really really nice paint match with lifetime warranty.

Try sanding and primering the parts yourself to cut down on cost. I knocked off $400 from my paint job and I got my car back in a week.

He'll need to check with the shop first. Not all shops will do that. Some won't touch a panel if it has already been prepped.
