Most cops probably wont pay attention to them since they are so small. Instead, they will probably be confused by the side-lenses inside the headlamps.

The reason the clear lenses are illegal is because the law requires a car have amber front reflex-reflectors, which is the whole purpose behind the lower reflectors. Change them to clear makes your car illegal, its as simple as that.

Actually, the amber lens in your headlamp is less useful than the lower reflector -- that is the most important one, from a legal perspective.

I've had the clear front markers installed for a while without any trouble. I haven't installed a front license plate either. I've driven past numerous cops without problem. Most cops won't pull you over just for that - they have better things to do.

i highly doubt that you will have any problems with the clear sidemarkers..... the cops won't even notice them, unless the cop drives or is very familiar with the z.

Funny, I end up getting more front license plate tickets more than ANYTHING nowadays. I cant beleive this law gets inforced SO much, its a shame. Its a front plate, its QUITE obvious people dont like it..

Whats even worse, in Los Angeles the parking enforcement is actually allowed to leave citations on your car, how fun! Now I try to park on private property OR throw my plate on my dash for whenever I park on public streets -- apparently the plate on the dash trick seems to work, so far I havent gotten a ticket for having it sitting on the dashboard.

I dont know how many times I've mailed proof of corrections (he he he, photoshop is great!) and $10 to dismiss these citations. I think the worst situation was in Beverly Hills, I had the plate sitting on the dash and a POLICE OFFICER actually had nothing better to do than pull over in his bike and write a ticket and leave it on my windshield. NO, not a meter maid... but a COP. Only in LA...

...wait wait, ONLY IN BEVERLY HILLS. I wonder what McLaren F1 owners do when they park on the streets out here. I saw yet another one 2 days ago...

I think that they may actually be "legal". Because we DO have the headlight strip so isn't it just redundant to have another reflector? I have seen multiple cars that do not have another reflector, I can't think of any models right now though... Even if you do get pulled over I doubt the cop will even notice. I would only worry about NJ inspection, they can be a *****..

I got clears with orange LEDs, that way, at night, when they are more noticeable, they are actually orange...

So far, no problems.

the laws say that amber denotes the side of the car, white for front, red for back. hence white back up light, because... the back is the front in that case. having clear on the side COULD confuse people into thinking you were coming at them.(yeah yeah, but can you HONESTLY say you havent met someone that might actually think that?)

however as its been said, tho it may be opinion, a cop is not gonna pull you over for it. its a very easy fix it ticket, non moving violation, and chances are if you just fix it theyd dismiss it. if you got pulled over for speeding, and the cop happens to be very alert and up on his laws, he could toss in a ticket for it. its a gamble... but I would say the odds are in your favor, chances are you do far more illegal things than that.

Incorrect, the amber lens in the headlamp is not a reflex reflector -- it is just an amber plastic lens.

Dude, cops could care less about the JDM clear reflecters unless you have those different color LED lights installed then they will draw attention. Our department doesn't usually give tickets for NO Front License Plates unless the person being pulled over is having an attitude or its just a BY THE BOOK officer. Then the citations start racking up from the tint being too dark to a broken tailight, oops did I crack that lens with my ASP. HAHAHAHA
SAFE DRIVING!!!

Well, I guess thats the difference between Texas and good ol Los Angeles Cali. Out here, front license plate citations really seem to rack up money.. and are handed out like HOT CAKES. If its not by an officer, its by parking patrol. You dont even have to be in your car, they do you the favor and leave it on your windshield for you.

As for the side-markers, it just depends where you go, what you do, and how you act. I am sure a Z owner silly enough to attend some of the local street races will get his car cited for just about any and every thing. They give out tint, front license plate, and exhaust like hot-cakes. Want more? They'll be more than happy to give you an excessive lowering ticket, excessive noise from stereo, illegal headers, removed cat, etc.. I mean you'de be surprised as to how much they find in the book to throw at you.
