Default 350z EIS (electronic immobilization system ) Questions

I am currently looking to import a 350z from the U.S. to Canada and all the research I have done seems to be going fine so far but I've hit one snag where there is a grey area. According to the registrar of imported vehicles 350z's manufactured after sept 2007 for the U.S. are compliant with cmvss 114 in regards to the immobilization system but it also states that passenger vehicles up to 2007 which are not listed in the inadmissible section are also compliant. The 2007 350z is not listed in the inadmissable section. I have checked with nissan and have recieved the information that all U.S. and Canadian models are standard equipped with the electronic immobilization system. The RIV and nissan seem to be contradicting one another in this case. I did read the gazette article regarding this ( vol 141 no. 48 dec 1 2007 ). So my question is simply if a 2007 nissan 350z is manufactured before sept 1st 2007 and is equipped with nissans EIS is it compliant with the regulations for importation? or will an aftermarket EIS have to be installed. It just seems strange to me that nissan was installing compliant EIS in all models in 2006 but for 2007 models there seems to be a gap where the systems are not compliant. Does anyone know where I can get concrete information regarding this matter?

Thanks in advance ( hopefully soon to be owner of a 2007 gt )

Did you try contacting Nissan's Japan Headquarters (i.e. the manufacturer)?

You might want to ask in the Canada East or Canada West forum, someone there might know. I'm pretty sure you're ok with importing anything manufactured before Sept. 1st which I think all 2007's might be... I'm looking at importing an '07 as well.

Default importing

hey jenner1,

Seems like I'm retracing your steps ..2 years later. lol. How did everything go? Did you have to install the EIC? And what did you finally buy!? =)

I have 6 web tabs open with RIVs, tc.gc.ca 's etc. It's overwhelming to say the least, so much that I've contacted a broker www.lpauto.ca. I'm not sure if I'm gonna use them, but it's an option!

THanks!
