TRUE, a stock engine does not NEED any other additional cooling vents, but it can still benefit none-the-less.. never said that a vented hood or scoops were necessary. but wouldnt hurt for over all longevity issues for boosted or hard driven cars.. sure race cars have these vents, but they're only driven hard at the track.. they have air flowing over the hood venting all the time.. we drive street cars and sit in traffic and heat soak.. i dunno about you, but LA traffic sucks azzz and i wouldnt mind having some more heat exchange.....

the NSX hood has pretty deep fins.. if you wanted to do something like this for the Z, you'll need more fins at a steeper swept back angles...

you have valid points.. something like this is overkill. but eh. his money. he wants it.. so whatevers..

But basically stock cars on the street? I put over 100,000 miles on two different 300Z twin turbos and they had a lot more heat generating stuff under the hood than the 350. Not having a vented hood didnt limit the practical life or usability of those cars.

My point is that in the useful life of this car and given the typical users needs this mod is only cosmetic. Will the engine bay be cooler? Yes, but so what? We don't have that much heat to get rid of (barring major engine mods). Don't get me wrong. If people want to do this because they think it looks cool - go for it. But arguing it's a performance enhancer for the street is a bit much...never mind the fact that there is no room under the hood given the strut bar, plenum cover and radiator housing to do what's pictured on the NSX or Mr. 2 pictured above.....

I forgot who just posted that S2000 hood, I believe it was Mike? But that would also be awesome if it was more of 1 large single back scoop, and not two of them. Also I'd want it in Carbon Fiber.

Anyone?

You just described what happens under the hood of every car built over the past century. And 287 HP isn't much. My last twin turbo was boosted well beyound that (more like 400)...

Hi, I have a hood that I have been designing which has a more different body line from the stock car. The hood will be selling for $1000 fiberglass when it comes out. But that all depends on the demand if this project even begins.
