Default Uhaul Hitch 249483 vs 247483 - Completely different hitches!

*****************
SEE POST NUMBER 9:
*****************

Hi,

Has anyone purchased the U-haul hitch Model number 247483??

its different or newer than the 249483? but look at the two attached PDF files i have for them...

Difference being the 9 and 7 as far as model number goes???

it appears that the 247483 is for G35/350Z but the bumper facia im guessing is totally G35 and intended to be installed with out taking off the bumper at all?? versus the old 249483???

can anyone comment on this? the rear bumper ALUMINUM beam doesnt look to be the same in the two PDF's?

Does anyone have pictures of the rear bumper beam with out the foam on it?

DOES ANYONE HAVE A PIC FROM THE FSM (factory service manual) they can post on here of what the rear aluminum bumper support looks like??

Does anyone else have this model 247483 installed on their Z?

************************************************************ *****************************
UPDATE

- FROM WWW.HITCHSOURCE.COM THEY HAVE THE CORRECT HITCH. I RECOMMEND CALLING HIM - 877-464-4824 ORDER OVER PHONE - HE IS REALLY HELPFULL.

I ALSO JUST UPLOADED A NEWER - CURT MFG INSTALLATION PDF FILE 11483-247483.PDF BELOW. THIS NEW ONE SHOWS A CROSS SECTIONAL VIEW ON THE MIDDLE LEFT SIDE AND YOU CAN CLEARLY SEE ITS NOT THE SAME BUMPER SUPPORT AS 04Z...

************************************************************ ******************************

UPDATE #2: - READ PAGE TWO OF THIS THREAD - (POST 33-39)
FINAL INSTALLATION PICTURES ADDED.

Both hitches require the bumper and cover to be removed. You still have to drill holes into the alum of the bumper to mount it.

Not sure what you are saying. To install the hitch, you must remove the bumper cover, then the alum bumper itself. Including the Foam. Then drill holes into the bumper, and mount it. Then remount it back on the car.

No pics, but z-u-later has one installed and can give you some info.

well, what im saying is, im looking at 2 completely different installation guides from the pdf's i attached on post #1 and the bumper supports and bumper facia's look completely different then what ive seen on the Z....

im wondering if those are G35 stuff in the illistration and if it did still work on the Z... i say this because this thing (247483 vs 249483) is huge? and mounts on the under side of the aluminum bumper support now???

DOES ANYONE HAVE A PIC FROM THE FSM (factory service manual) they can post on here of what the rear aluminum bumper support looks like??

Jason,

I wouldn't worry too much about it. Just follow the instructions to remove the bumper & once removed, you will see the aluminum bumper support. I think it's bolted to the frame with four bolts. At this point, you can easily place the receiver hitch to see where you can mount them. Just make sure they're centered. Installing it is easy but time consuming since you'll have to drill the holes & "fish" thru the bolts inside the aluminum bumper support. Took me ~two hours to uninstall, mount & reinstall everything.

Once installed, you'll be one of a handful of hardcore owners in the world with a tow hitch on their beloved Z!

OKAY! EVERYONE CLICK ON THE TWO PDF FILES I ATTACHED IN POST #1

THE BUMPER SUPPORTS IN THE PICTURE/SCHEMATIC ARE DIFFERENT!!!!!

One must be for G or Z or different years Z...but the 247483 pdf instructions doesnt say what years of G or Z it just says ""INFINITI G35 / NISSAN 350Z""

What a waste of my Sunday removing my bumper! i knew it wasnt right...

********************************************************
P/N 247483 ALSO KNOWN AS P/N 11483 DOES """NOT""" WORK on a 2004 Z.
********************************************************

My bumper support looks identical to the picture/schematic in pdf p/n 249483 also known as curt mfg p/n 11493!!!!

When you go to uhaul-dot-com and try to order the hitch it gives you 249483! but what you get in the mail is 247483!! WRONG!!

When you go to curt mfg web site the p/n's dont differ until you enter 2006 model Z?? retarded!!

Now I have to deal with stupid u-haul people and get this thing returned!!

I may just call up curt manufacturing myself and order direct from them!

maybe he can give a forum discount??
************************************************************ ***

anywayz - you can give him the curt mfg p/n and he has them in-stock ready to ship... I really do suggest ordering over the phone so you make sure you get the right one..

You will still need to take the bumper off to access the sides of the alum bumper to install the nuts.

ya, thats no problem...i question was never if i needed to take the bumper off...its WHICH model number is which for what year and bumper support...

according to every web site out there the 11493 is for an 06Z.... and the 11483 is for 04 and 05.

Well thats NOT true for my 04 touring Z - my car needs the 11493 - they have the same bumper supports.

350z in that field and it will take 15% off of the hitch. As always, the
mounting hardware, ball mount and hitch pin are included in the order.

Well that looks like a good deal, but the thing that gets me is that they are not even selling you the ball... I got mine from summit and it came with the ball already mounted for the same price.. Just figured I would throw that out there for others that are considering this..

So Jason.. looks like you finally are going to join the hitch gang..lol... Be ready for just about everyone to ask you "what do you pull with your car?" I get that all the time...
