Default AAAAKK..someone hit my car!!!

well the other day, someone thought it would be an AWSOME idea to hit my passanger door while pulling into or backing out of the spot beside me.

The good thing:

It wasn't hit hard enough to dent the door.

The bad thing:

It WAS hit hard enough to make the scratch deep enough that the only fix is to repaint the spot or the whole door if it can't be matched locally. But that's what insurance is for. wonder how much my rate will go up just for that?

Sorry to hear it.

My rear bumper has been hit TWICE! This last time left some scratches and a 8" light crease way at the bottom. You have to look to see it but WTF!

People are just ignorant F#CKS.

your insurance rate should not go up because it was not your fault. you will just have to pay your deductible to have the door repainted. just claim "hit and run"
good luck and make sure that you bring it to a good body shop that can match the paint perfectly.

insurance goes up for everything... doesnt matter whos fault it was, they can say you parked too close, or something to make it atleast partially your fault.

unlikely repair cost is over 500$, and even more unlikely your deductable is less than 500$.

dont involve insurance IMO. it sucks, but **** happens...

It does suck, but I wouldn't involve insurance over this either. Get a paint pen from Nissan with your exact color, and correct it yourself as much as you can. Then rewax it. It should be fine..

why tell your insurance anything? it probably won't cost more than your deductible and they will raise your rates regardless of whose fault it is because you are making a claim and that's all they are worried about.

Default I was bumped from behind on Tuesday

By an 83 year old lady in a Grand Prix '96. She bumped me from behind and pushed in the right blinker/rev. housing and dented the right rear bumper. What makes matters worse, I pulled over to check the damage and exchange info with the lady and she TOOK OFF. I hopped in the Z and followed her till I was able to get in front of her (again) this time I forced her to stop and called the police. Once the police arrived, they asked why we were a mile and a half from the intersection where the accident occured at. She told the cop she didn't realize she hit me, even though I pulled over and motioned for her to do the same..... He gave her a ticket for leaving the scene of a accident and charged her with the wreck. On a side note, I didn't know how old she was until I finally stopped her and yelled "What the hell are you doing!!" "Why did you drive off like that?" Then she opened up her car door (heavy tint) and I realized she was OLD as dirt (born 1920). So I calmed down (the best I could) in the 95 degree heat.

I'm happy now, car will go in tomorrow for the est. for repair work and it's being done at the dealership I bought the Z at. What kills me is she just kept on driving like nothing even happened and I was not going to get stuck with the repair work.....

Uh, if your insurance goes up, you should consider another company. Frankly, why would they raise your insurance? What had you been paying for the entire time, the right to drive? No, you had been paying for any possible liabilities that might come up in the future. Most insurance companies, at least the good ones, only raise rates in two cases:

1. a demonstrated inability to stay out of trouble.
2. A overall review of insurance for your state.

If your insurance company wants to raise your rates because you were hit, ask them these questions. They will be hard pressed to provide you a logical answer.

Well, kbsig, join the club. I was hit from behind two weeks and a half ago, and my car's stil at the shop. I got stuck with the fourth of July delay, they ordered another bumper. This woman didn't think it was necessary to slow down before entering an avenue. After the hit, while waiting for the police, she said she was admiring how good did the car look...nice way of showing appreciation...anyway, the dent wasn't that bad, but the waiting is killing me.

Hope I don't have to wait a week - I'm going to request a new bumper since it was plastic damage & can't be knocked out. I think the blinker housing is ok - I can see a few broken clips inside. I just feel so bad, I was going to jump on this poor woman - however in my defense, I didn't know she was 83 until she got out of her car.

Besides, my lunch got cold since I was 45 min's late getting back to work and I had 10 messages waiting for me when I returned. Tuesday just sucked period.

Hope your repairs turn out ok. I'll know more tomorrow afternoon.

There must be something about the Z that draws people to the rear bumper. I've never heard of a car hit this much I'm going to get my estimate next week.

Well, you can't deny this girl sports a big, pretty ***. Got it back from the shop last Friday, just in time for the weekend, factory look and got rid of a key assault on that area. Hope your babies come out good.

Going into the body shop tomorrow (7 am). New rear bumper, right blinker housing and a new gas door (sprung). The dealership I bought the Z at has a body shop and they are a prefered shop for State Farm (the old lady's insurance). So it's all done by computer.

Hopefully It will only take a day since the parts were ordered in advance - we'll have to see.........

Tell me about it, I got my Z 2 Days ago.. and this morning I come back to my house after goin to Wal-mart, go to take some pictures of it and see 2 creases going up the front of the car! Whatever it was touched everything possible, bumper, front spoiler, the grille.. man.. I just got my Track. I'm pretty sure insurance should take care of it, what'd you guys think? Cause at this point I'm ready to fight sum1

get a quote, see if its worthwhile. just keep your deductable in mind. make sure its worth while to involve them for a few hundred $.

Yeah, I got a $500 deductable so who knows. Any idea on how much a bumper and grille for our cars costs? Also.. any nice aftermarket grilles out there? Afew choices would be appreciated. Thanks.
