Default Windshield Chips

Hey guys, I have two very small chips (less than 1/8 inch) in my front windshield. They don't appear to be getting any worse, but they bug the hell out of me. Is it even worth it to get these fixed or should i just leave them be?

I have these too and they annoy the hell out of me. I think they are like $50/chip to fix. But I haven't looked into it.

I disagree. Living in Philly you will have some serious temperature changes over the seasons. At some point they will crack and work their way across your windshield. It will cost you a lot to get it replaced and your new windshield will not be as good as the factory one. Well worth the money, trust me.

I would get them fixed. I used to fix them and most insurance plans will repair like 3 a year for free. Go to a glass place (or some car washes do it) and find out. Even if your insurance doesnt replace them, my work only charged $20 for the first chip and $10 for each additional.

Doubtful... That tempered glass could take boiling hot water in the middle of January and not even creak.

New glass is less than $200.00 if you are woried about the chips. Chip repair may not be worth the $$$ vs: a new windshield

If the money isn't a factor, go right ahead. But I say just wait until your whole window cracks and replace it

Thanks for the suggestions. The chips appear to only be on the very surface of the windshield -- "nicks" would probably be the more appropriate term.

I've got a few as well. They're very annoying in bright light because it looks like there are dirty spots on my windshield. Getting them fixed wouldn't really help me though as I have to drive the freeway everyday, so it would just get damaged again sooner or later.

I have to say though. The Z windshield is a champ when it comes to rocks. I've taken a few very nasty hits and only come away with a small nick or chip on the surface of the glass. I even had a rock (kicked up by a semi that just changed lanes in front of me >_<) about the size of a grape smash dead center in my windshield and not even leave a mark. I could see the bish coming at me and just though "Well f**k", but there was no apparent damage.

Wow i would say the exact opposite about the oem piece of glass. Its a really thin piece i would say. I barely drive my car but my windshield cracked badly one day that i decided to take it out. I had it replaced by safelite and the piece is noticeably thicker.
