Default What if the body shop doesn't have a baking booth?

I just found out the place that's supposed to do my kit doesn't have one. Should I be concerned?

That's where they're SUPPOSED to "seal" the paint job (i.e. close the pores in the paint by heat). So, I WOULD be concerned. Ain't there any other body shops nearby?

^+1, or you'll end up with dust and particles in your clear. Trust me you dont want this, I had this done to my integra, ended up having to pay someone else twice the money for me being cheap to begin with.

Are they the only paint shop in town? I wouldn't take my bicycle to that shop.

Insists on a baking booth, & check with former customers of the paint shop just to be sure they do quality work.

Ignorance is bliss.

A baking booth has zero to with anything aside from getting a car in and out. It's like mass production. It allows the shop to run more cars through the shop. The only thing baking does is to cure the paint faster. It doesn't clean oils out, it doesn't make the booth any cleaner, it doesn't increase the car's horsepower, and it doesn't mix you a drink. If the shop puts out good work let them do your car. You're putting way too much worry into it.

Sounds like you paid for something you probably shouldn't have. Most particles can be wetsanded and buffed out, which is something every good shop does.

exactly! I'd be more concerned going with a shop that was just pushing numbers rather than quality. ask to see some of their previous work and see for yourself. there are good body shops and not-so-good body shops out there.

Most of the small shops I've seen that do very pricey and high quality, low-volume custom work like hot rods, motorcycles, etc. have not had baking booths.

I'm not an expert by any means, just sharing what I've seen for what its worth.

+1

Im going through hell right now and part of it very well could be because the car WAS baked. I personally prefer to have my paint cure without baking.
