Default Removing White Paint Scratches On My Black Z

Previous owner parked his Z in his garage, and parked it in the exact spot that the back bumper didnt register with the garage door sensor, so the door came down and just barely caught the back bumper, now there are vertical white paint scratches transfered from the garage door to the black bumper. the garage door just BARELY grazed the thing, looking on some tips on how to get it out. bought some meguiar's scratch X, but want to check with you guys before I do it. i was told that using medium strength rubbing compound could damage the bumper.
yes i searched...thoughts?

Here's my thought process...
  • Damage the bumper? No.
  • Damage the paint? Maybe.
  • Product designed to remove paint scratches? Yes.
  • Product removes paint scratches? Maybe.
  • Paint already damaged? Yes.

I say go for it, don't have much to lose.

yeah im definitely gonna do it but just seeing if its a good product and if anyone has experience, id rather return it now before i use it if someone knows of something better

the thing is, im pretty sure this meguiar stuff along with everything else is meant to cover and seal scratches in clear coat, but not to remove containments and then seal/cover. im so cheap i dont wanna waste 8 dollars to find out it doesnt work

Yeah, please post good pictures of what it is you're talking about. If its on top of the paint, you will probably need a rubbing compound to try to remove it.

If that doesn't work, $8 will be the least of your worries because then you will be looking at $150-$400+ to repaint it if you're not satisfied with it, but at least pictures will help us make a better educated guess.
