Default How to remove cover safely?

Hey guys, I just bought an awesome thingy for my iPod and it sounds great, looks great but unfortunately, the cover of the rear cigarette lighter gets in the way...

What I wanted to know is if there was any safe way to remove that tiny latch / cover door so safetly (ie, without breaking anything)? I know this must be a strange, unusual question but hey, first time for everything right?

Anyways, thanks in advance and hoepfully, somebody can help me out!

Will you ever have the need to re-install the latch or will this be a premanent removal?

Permanent , but just in case I decide to sell this car down the road, I need this to be not permanent See the dilemma? lol

I am sure there must be a way but it seems so secure, feels like it's gonna snap if I try and remove it.

its cheap enough to replace later...just pull the whole lighter straight out...then break the door off if u cant figure a way to get it off without breaking.

what did you buy for the ipod and why do you need to remove the rear lighter plug?

Why not just buy a extension and plug it in there and use it? That is what I do for my video camera.

Can it even be pulled out completely?

yea it can...there might be a couple little tabby things that hold it in...but if there is that whole back panel just pops out and it can be removed very easily...a few minutes and a little patience and it all comes apart very very easily.

I genuinely hope you find your answer, but I had to laugh at this.

I tried a thin knife to get the tabs off and looked around but no success... Tried to pull it out and such but well, no go. Oh well. I'll use the front charger but still, Nissan, what gives?

You make this latch impossible to remove and yet, my whole dash rattles like hell because it's falling apart :P
