Default Stock HID vs. Phillip 6000K HID. (PICS)

Okay guys, I just got my HID from Phillips in. D2R of couse. The install was pretty painless, but that was because I had all my wheel off, on a jack, and a couple of guys helping because I was bleeding my brake also.

Left side is stock, with a signal LED city light, and the stock yellow bulb.

The right side is with a double LED city light, coylite chrome signal bulb, and the Phillip 6000K HID.

I think the HID will get a bit brighter and less purple-ish after it "break in", at least that was what I was told. This pic was when it was first and and we were testing it out.

The lighting was what I have expected, LESS then the 4300K stock HID. But the Color was more then what I was expected, very very nice looking from outside of the car. Actually a tad bluer then I had in mind, but no complain here. If you are looking for PURE WHITE, I would suggest the Phillip 5300K then.

Okay, on with the show.:

Can you take a picture of the actual lighting provided? Like a pic of the car illuminating a dark road, or against a wall? with comparison photos of the stock lights? How often do you see your car from the outside with the lights on?

If you are a driver, I bet after driving your car on twisty mountain roads you will be wishing for the 4300k lights again - I have tried 4300, 4700, 5000, 6000 and 7000K lights in my car - I'm sticking with the 4700K as they provide the most usable light.

Whats more important? That you see whats in front of you in time to react and avoid? Or people saying "Damn yo themz lights are MAD tiiiiite boi"

Don't sell your stockers right away

Sharp: I just got some Phillip D2R bulb from Hong Kong and gave it to Ao's Racing to install them...pretty good, no big deal. I was bleeding the brake anyways so the wheel was off and the job was easy.

To Bulletproof:

Macau have ONE twistie mountain road, and that road is well lite with fog street light (the orange kind), and the rest are city street, this is all well lite also, and those are from neon sign and street light.

Basically, headlight is something so useless in Macau, by law you are only require to drive with your city light on to consider legal at night. Thats why I used the 6000K, it is prettier...I don't need that much light to lite the road anyways.

Like I said, 6000K is less bright then 4300k for sure. If you are going to go racing in dark mountain road (becareful of the cliff), 6000K is for sure a DOWN GRADE from the factory...and at that point, you are worrying for your life, not looks.

I don't have a pic of that of the wall...I'll see when I can snap a pic.

Oh, one thing I noticed. Even though nothing at the headlight housing is touch, the cut off seems to be more blurry then factory. That I don't understand as I only swap out D2R bulb for D2R bulb.

Any idea?

Oh lol I didn't notice the address. Wow thats a long ways away

I imagine the replacement D2R bulbs dont have the same quality control as the factory units, or not precise location of the gaseous element - too low or high or close or far from the reflector- I too have this "bleeding" problem, although mine is more due to the design of the housing . Even the halogens had a crappy cut off.

LOL It honestly is a waste of the car's performance here in Macau...thats why I went for all out looks.

As for the light, I honestly expected alot more from Phillip. I got these bulb from a Phillip dealer in Hong Kong. Other people try to offer me "Eagle Eye" brand 7000K for a cheaper price, but said I will, and only will go with the Phillip. I was expecting it would be 100% OEM looking except for the lighting...After all, Phillip makes most of the OEM HID anyways.

Piaa actually have some 6000K D2R bulb also, but they are TWICE the price of Phillip. I have NO idea why...in USD, Phillip was $250 a pair, and the Piaa would of been $500...for a pair of light, with no ballast...huh??? I wonder if they have better quility control.

These bulb work with the OEM Ballast because it is OEM shape and model light bulb, D2R. This mean this bulb will only fit a car with the OEM HID housing.

If you have Hella 7000K "conversion", that mean the bulb isn't made for the HID housing, but actually is a HID on a H7 base. (I think non HID is H7 bulb right?)

So if you want to get the 6000K because the 7000K is a tad too blue (and I know many guy did this), you will have to get "retrofitted" HID bulb.

Now if all you did was get the Hella 7000k bulb and fit it to your OEM housing, then all you need is the D2R bulb.

Anyways, I don't think there will be a need for you to get a new ballast, all you really need is the bulb. The long as your ballast don't burn out, it is a good ballast.
