I found one on this site but not sure if its genuine.

stay away from VIS go with Seibon or Mastergrade

+1...i would keep away from VIS....bad fitment...cheap product quality...go with seibon or spend the money and get mastergrade!

they arent REQUIRED, but recommended, ive had my Seibon on for a few with no pins, but it worries me....

Unless you autoX/track/or drag your Z it's fine under normal DD. I wouldn't worry about it. It's your call. just search CF hood under the media share section and see how many people use pins.
