Default Removing window switch finisher panel?

Hey guys,
Has anyone removed the finisher around the window controls/inside handle?
I can't believe this piece is so damn delicate, my car is a year old and it already has a couple of deep scratches from closing the door...probably with my fingernails, even though i keep them short...
I checked on Courtesy parts and it isn't cheap, but I'm really OCD about this and it bugs me. It seems like there's only a screw holding it but don't know if there might be clips or anything underneath I should be aware of or just unscrew and pull the piece....
Part diagram link: (part number is 80961)

I am assuming i dont need to take the door panel or anything drastic for this.its just a cosmetic flaw that bugs the hell out of me

in the pocket where your hand goes is a small circular plastic tab. Pop that off, and there is a self tapping screw underneath. Remove that and the piece will pop out. There are plastic tabs around the outer border of the unit

I just went to the car and I figured the screw would be in the bottom of the pocket, as in the base (kind of like in my old car which had the plastic tab hiding a screw) .... I just checked and realized there's no "base" or "bottom" to the pocket . It goes all the way trough...so now I'm stumped....is this different in 07's or am I just not looking in the right place....sorry for the noob post..
This leads me to believe it should be just pried up with a screw driver? I don't wanna mess the thing up (or something else) in the process ..
Thanks!

I'm gonna cover mine with cf. I think it's togher than the OEM stuff. I couldn't see replaced them with the same think that'll just get scratched again.
