I have an 04 in le mans sunset (orange). I really love the color.

the mods I am going to do are..

-tint the windows (20 on sides, 15 on rear window) - done
-smoke (tint) the rear lights, headlights and all blinkers - doing soon
-wheels (might wait a couple of months..)
-nismo spoiler, or this one: http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/50-1844
-paint calipers (black? red?)

originally I wasn't going to smoke the lights, and I was going to paint the spoiler to match the rest of the car, but I've been contemplating how it would look if I was to get black or dark gray gunmetal wheels - if I painted the spoiler black instead.

would it look good? terrible? I was thinking it would match the tint and smoke effects, along with the wheels. It looks pretty good the way I picture it - but I can't help but think about it being the pumpkin mobile if I did it.

I really like the look of the smoked lights so I will probably end up doing that regardless - it boils down to how I am going to set up the calipers/wheels/spoiler. I know it's my car, but what are your thoughts? I am not going to make a mistake on my Z.

 

I personally am not a fan of mismatched spoilers...Out of the 2 spoilers your contemplating I like the more subtle one (daytona) in same color as your car.

I'm not a fan of smoked lights...esp headlights. now if you jsut paint the inside black that's okay...but to smoke the lens is counterproductive to the lights' purpose IMO.

You will likely get some flack from some members here about the caliper paint...esp if you go red. I personally don't have an issue with it. I'm considered doing it more than once.

Careful on wheel choice as many just don't match the lines of the car.


These are just my opinions on your ideas.

Oh if your dead set on smoking everything in sight, do it with overlays like Bat's overlays...so hopefully it won't trash the plastic underneath, and can be removed when you sell the car.

 

None of it is my cup of tea. Sounds ricey to me, but that's just my opinion..

 

Do not mismatch the paint with anything. 2tone = no good IMO. Unless you are getting a CF hood and CF trunk and CF roof. just painting different colors = SUPER RICER. Do not ruin your Z.

 

random thoughts - just trying to make my Z a bit unique without doing anything drastic. I am considering scrapping the smoking idea now so thanks for sharing your opinions.

I am torn on the spoilers - on one hand, I think the orange color is a bit more exotic as is, so having an exotic spoiler isnt too out of place. Does the nismo spoiler interfere with sight out the rear window?

on the other hand, that daytona one is a lot more subtle and wouldn't appear ricey at all...

I am about out of ideas though - I like the stock look, just trying to get the car to feel more unique / my own.

 

personally, i prefer to keep it stock, the stock look looks nice already the only mod i probably put on it is a set of rims and tires

 

my vote is for nismo spoiler, black calipers..
leave the tint off the rear lights (rice imo)
you should get some nice VOLK wheels.. and lower it a tad.. THAT would be silly pimp.

those who prefer no spoiler or the smaller conservative ones - how do you feel about the nismo spoiler. is it too over the top, too ricey? I can't help but like it, I think it looks good on the lemans sunset Z's... I feel the conservative look belongs on the G35..

 

nismo spoiler on a otherwise stock body ftl imho.

Agreed with alot of the above as far as smoking the Lights.. just get some rear LEDS (they're so much hotter than the regs)..

The spoiler is actually decent looking.

If you don't have i would suggest the following inexpensive compliments:
front lip spoiler (intense has a nice reasonably priced one)
S2k or like antenna
IMO painting the calipers are to civic for my taste but that's just me..
depending on what wheels you have look into painting those flat, matte black..

 

i'd go with the vertex spoiler....

OP, don't get a spoiler if you don't have a lip kit or something to balance the look. It will look weird with just the spoiler.

 

smoked lights=rice
painted calipers=fried rice
