Default Front Splash Guards vs. Ground Clearance

My 350Z doesn't have these. Bought a new set from courtesyparts.com
Now thinking about NOT installing them because it appears to me that it will definitely scrape road bumps. If I install it, that will end up as the lowest part of the car, with the ground clearance about 3 inches (or less I think). My car has stock absorbers and is not lowered.

Am I right about it being too low and scraping bumps? If yes, does the benefit of the front splash guards outweigh the disadvantage of reduced ground clearance and potential scrapes?

I have them on my car (stock suspension) and I havent had any issues with them. And the roads around here arent as smooth as Cali and down south.

And besides, IF they do scrape, it'll be on the bottom of the guard. This is nice since you won't see it and you can easily replace them if needed (cheap and plastic).

I say: Do it. Its a nice touch over the stock look of the car.

Also, wanted to note that I have scraped a few times, but it wasnt with the splash guards. It was the middle of the car when going over tall speed bumps (who the hell makes them that big in the first place!!).

My '03 was lowered onTein S-Tech springs and even then my splash guards never scraped. You should be fine. But I think for looks you should have them in front and back.

I have splash guards and I am lowered. I only have about the width of 4 fingers clearance below the splash guard. I don't think I have ever scraped them. If I scrape, it seems to be back towards the middle of the car.

Ok, I'm gonna take all y'alls advise and get them installed. I think the reason it doesn't scrape is because of its close proximity to the rear of the front tyre ......and therefore they 'follow' the tyres over bumps and don't scrape. Just a theory.

I'm imagining Nissan engineers took the scraping issue into consideration when they made OEM splash guards. Just a guess....

If you have a habit of running over curbs you will destroy the splash guards.
