Dumb Question
Ok, I am a newb and all so dont flame me too bad. My question is this. I only found one cigarette lighter in my Z, and that is behind the seats between the speakers. So what I am trying to figure out is how in the heck to plug up my radar detector without having a cord stretching right down the middle of the cabin.
Anybody else ran into this?

That is understandable though because you can't physically see that and let's be honest who actually uses the key to unlock the car when you have the fob? I suggest the OP take an hour and open all the doors and just look at and touch his car for at least an hour.

If you have an '03, the only cigarette lighter is behind your right elbow. Not convenient placement when you want to use a radar detector. I wired my Escort 8500 to the fuse box down by the clutch pedal using a telephone cord that I cut up. You can buy an adapter for the fuse box that converts one fuse slot into two. Run the cord up the A pillar, across the headliner and down the windshield to your radar detector. I've also read about people just splicing into the homelink power cord to avoid running the wire too far.

There are a couple of DIYs on how to wire it to the mirror power. I didnt have time to look for the thread but if you search (not flaming) its actually pretty simple. It will be "hardwired" but if that doesnt bother you its the way to go.
