Couple questions (shift light and paint)
I set the shift light to 3700 RPMs as I attempt to break-in my car; just trying to keep it below 4k, though I've been to about 4250 RPMs a couple times. Im not a fan of the "hard break-in" so let's not even go there with this thread. Anyway, even though I set it to 3700 RPMs it starts to flash at ~3250 RPMs, any know why this happens?
Also, I just filled up for the first time the other night and when I opened the fuel door I noticed that the paint on the body, not the door, was cracked. Should I just fill in that area with some touch up paint?
Thanks in advance.

well... the shift light blinks 500 rpm's before what you set it and goes solid once it gets to what you set, so if you want to shift at 3700 and dont want to see the blinking til then, set it to 4200

^^^ I thought about that, but I am sure the only think they are going to do is touch it up as well and I trust myself much more than I trust them when it comes to those types of things.

A real nissan dealership that wants repeat business will make it right.
If they won't.. you don't want to continue doing business with them.
EDIT: 15 days is the standard lemon clause. That being you can return it within 15 days no questions asked.

^^^^ Yes, I believe it is 3 attempts to repair within 6 months in California. Anyway, I am past 15 days. I bought the car on October 28th or 29th and I am not sure that my issue would be worth returning the car.
I might take it to the dealer when I get back from vacation in December and see what they can do about it.

U dont need to really to follow ur break in.. i went pass over 4000 rpm when it was 1026 mileage.. Its a sports car, and its made to go fast. first 700 mileage of ur motor is good enough to loosen the lubes..

To each their own, just bought my 2nd Z33 and haven't taken it above 3000 RPMS yet and am sitting at about 1100 miles. Lookin to hit about 1300 before I even attempt to redline her. Anyhow my350zisblack hit it right on the nail... "the shift light blinks 500 rpm's before what you set it and goes solid once it gets to what you set", which is about as clear as you could put it. In regards to the paint and the cracks, take it back to the dealership. Be very assertive when asking them to fix the problem(s), you paid for a good product that wasn't cheap... Your lack of action is going to only hurt you, the worst they can say is "no". They want/need business, I am sure they are going to work with you. My Z33 had swirl marks and a very small knick all the way to the metal on the right fender when I purchased it, I had them take detail it to remove all swirls and repaint/reclear the fender. Period. The more time you waste, the less of a priority it will seem to be...

It is not a scratch. It is cracking paint inside the fuel door. It is not visible from outside the car unless you are filling up. My concern with it is that it will compromise the paint in that are if it starts to spread or something. I hope I does not seem I am making this out to be a major issue, because it is by no means that at all. Just something that annoys me but then again I have OCD when it comes to certain things - cars being one of them. Could I live with the fact the dealer may do nothing? Sure I can, which is why I said I'd just touch it up myself. In all likeliness, that is how I will address this issue anyway, but it still might be worth inquiring about with the dealer.
