Exclamation Engine compartment lights!! VOTE good or bad?

Okay im sure ill be flamed more than i ever have been flamed. but im going to step into my flamesuit and ask a question...

here it goes.

big breath.................

what are the opinions of those on this forum on having something like neon lights in the engine bay. and im not saying like blattenly obvious. but like down low on the firewall and wheel wells and maybe a few other spots. (in other words lights that arent seen directly but cascading a colored light into the engine bay once opened but the lights are turned off one the hood is closed. so it doesnt have that riced out effect of underglow lights.)

im trying to figure out how to do it so its clean. and i dont even know how good its going to look. but i wanna try it and just wondering what is the opinion of the general populous.

okay flamesuit on..

Personally I don't like it, but I have seen it look good on some cars.

Such as, there is FX35, I forget who owns it, but it has blue neons and it actually looks hot with the paint job. He also as removed all of the plastics from the engine bay which helps greatly with the clean look.

i dont believe neon lights and the phrase "clean" could be used on this forum w/o harsh Repercussions.

if u want to try it. put a bright maglight w/o it's focusing lense and throw it inside your fender well.. imh even if you hid the neons inside your fenderwells, light seeks holes. it will shine through the spaces inbetween, i..e your door hinge area, next to the fender liners, etc..

but hey. ur car. go impress ur close friends...

Neon lights are ricer as hell. I would really like lights in there though so I can see better when I'm working on the car. It would be nice to not have to hold a flashlight while fumbling with tools...

well i wasnt talking full blown neons i should have specified that im looking at the 5mm led bulbs i was thinking of putting about 2 or 3 since they are so bright and super small i can put them anywhere i choose. if you dont know what led light im talking about look on your dash and you see that little blinking light when you lock your car thats what im thinking of but with a higher output. Didnt mean to put the thought of a full blown neon light bar in the car. i was thinking one on each side of the motor on wheel wells and maybe two down by the trans on the firewall. and have them on a switch controlled from the inside.

Many things look great if they're done tastefully--to blatantly label this modification "ricer" is ignorant.

I agree as long as its dont tastfully. Im just hoping i can get the wiring all straight and neat since this is like the second time ive worked with wiring things to vehicles. (the first was my 1114 humvee in iraq so show quality didnt really matter as long as it worked. i even routed a 2nd power switch for our PA system cuz my Platoon leader would get obnoxious with it so i could turn it on and off from my side of the 1114.. man that pissed him off. i loved it. anyone in the service knows its fun to mess with your seniors and not have them know your doing it. he just thought there was a short or something lol

I would like it if the engine bay was dressed up with something to show off.

Yea im working on im thinkin of a few carbon fiber things and orange plug wires. dont wannt to do too much as im planning the aps TT in the end of Jan. but my theme is going to be silver and orange/amber. refabing the seats with black leather with orange stitching. the shift and brake boots the same and as so far all the lights on the inside of the car are the factory orange even the Head units buttons. was thinking making the center of the dash and console orange. (not gawdy tuner orange just about the same color as the gauges) and then throwing some orange under the hood and putting mirrors on the underbelly of the hood. thought that would set off the lights a little bit.
