Brighter Headlights?
LOL.... I guarantee they are not rated for 55watts. You are getting 35watt bulbs overboosted to 55watt (or more like 42 watts) from the ballasts. How would I know? test for yourself, a overboosted bulb will burn much hotter than an actual 50watt bulb (which Philips makes) Believe what you want I suppose.

The higher the Kalvin rating (K) the less light output you get. Your stock headlights are 4300k so going to a 6000k bulb will give you less light as well as the light will look blue like the fake Xenon halogen bulbs with a blue coating on them.
I would suggest you buy new 4300k bulbs. The bulbs, even HID's, lose power and light output over time. Also "thinking" your alignment is fine has nothing to do with it really being fine. I would guess your alignment is out even if you have never touched them. It's like your wheels alignment. It will change with time even if you don't hit a curb or do anything to have it come out of alignment.
I would also check the grounding to the ballast if they appear dim. If the grounds are weak add an additional ground to the harness / ballast casing should also help if that is the problem.
The cut off of the lights is not really that far up the road, so I am wondering if you just feel like you want light farther ahead of the car than the OE lights provide? This is demonstrated by the need to turn on the high beams. If the alignment is fine like you say, I think you need to get over the fact that there isn't light shining out 500ft in front of the car like the high beams provide. Many people think they can't see as far with HID's because of the strong cut off, where halogen lights typically don't have a strong cut off and "appear" as if they are shining farther up the road.

Everyone who gets in my car says my hedlights are 'dim' and by my eyes it seems so too...i'll try to do a test to see if they really are
Also i'll have someone check out the wiring parts you suggested..i dont know much about headlights so im not sure what to look for..will have my shop look at it and possibly replace the bulbs and see if that helps...the car is a 2003 and the bulbs have never been changed
Hello, I own www.sagahid.com. Here are my recomendations:
1. Polish the headlamps lenses. May be hand or machine polish (thin compound)
2. Confirm they are well aligned
3. Replace the bulbs for new 5000K, they have the more lumens output
4. You may want to add a conversion kit for hi beams
I personally own a 2004 Z. They do not offer much light due to oem configuration of bulb pattern and projector type.
If there is something else I may help just PM me.
Good luck!
