Default eBay LED Gauge Conversion Kits?

I want to do a LED conversion. I know how to solder and think it would be fun to do it myself. I am looking for a source for the LEDs and resistors (if resistors are even necessar).

I have seen the old "how to" threads on here, but it seems like the method has changed since then. Also, I looked on mouser as suggested, and the price for the LEDs is pretty expensive.

Has anyone tried the eBay LED conversion kits? They only offer the main cluster and three center gauges. I have nav, so I have some custom figuring to do anyway...

I wouldn't buy LEDs from anywhere that didn't list their specs. Voltage drop, mA, mcd, viewing angle, etc. None of the places on eBay I've personally seen have that info. Maybe one or two pieces but not everything, and that's if you can trust what they advertise. What kind of LEDs are you planning on using? Most can be found for less than $1 unless you're talking about .5W super flux or something.

Is everything already LEDs stock or would it involve a retrofit?

crg: They are LEDs already, just changing the color. The seller on ebay has lots of positive feedback on many different types of vehicle. They are not normal radio shack type LEDs, they are surface mount.

My main concern is being able to match them for the rest of the spots in the car.

I see. I don't really have much knowledge on that as I have not had the ambition nor time to tear everything apart. It is something I would like to do eventually though. Are the stock LEDs SMT? If not, it could prove to be difficult to replace 5mm LEDs with SMT LEDs.
