Default Hello, I just picked up a used 03 350z......

Hello All,

I was wondering how to visually tell the difference between having xenon headlights and regular halogen headlights? I was looking into purchasing some aftermarket black headlights but wasn't sure which ones I currently have in place.

Thanks

can you stare in to the headlights without going blind? then you have halogen. you might have to get really close though and have someone else sit in the car, flicking them off and on real quick.

simple. if the lights seems to slowly turn on and gradually get bright, then you got HID. if you turn them on and they come on instantly (plus have a yellow hue), you got halogen. only the base models had halogen so if you got an enthusiast or above, you got HID.

yah, turn them on at night against a wall. HID's will kinda *POP* on and turn more and more blue looking...and Halogens...well they suck.

Buuuut, if I'm not mistaken, USUALLY, only the base models come with halogens unless specially ordered. And the way to tell that is to see if you have cruise control buttons on your steering wheel. Base models don't have cruise control.

Correct me if I'm wrong guys.

Except for the base. Halogen lows and highs.

If you have no buttons on steering wheel, it is a Base... meaning halogen lights.

With buttons, HIDs.
