Default scratch on my headlights

so i was standing outside in the parking lot at top foods while my room mate smoked a cigarette, and he points out that i have a big scratch on my headlight. I bought my car like 6 months ago and this really pisses me off. but anyways i was curious to know if anyone had a DIY to fix this (by buffing, chemical treatment, heat treatment etc). The scratch is not that deep but still is noticeable. I would post pics but its dark so ill try to tomorrow.

first off, it is the front of the car so you are going to get scratches. second there are a bunch of aftermarket cleaning/repairing kits for the headlights. just go to your local auto parts store and go shopping because they all do pretty much the same thing, just differ in price.

The cover is plastic so get some plastic polish.

Depending on how deep the scratch is, most likely you need a machine (as only a machine polisher can build the heat needed to blend such imperfections).

So probably a buffing pad, mild sandpaper, some compound, and a makita/dewalt or good random orbit to say the least to do this job.

Might be better to pay someone to fix it. (detailer or replace it)
