Carbon Fiber Vinyl Pattern Wrap Thread
Some CF vinyl out there is a thicker fabric so it'd be a pain to do. I'm not sure if that's the same stuff.
You could take one for the team and find out?
couldn't have said it better myself.... I knew "somebody" had a good product and what I was looking for. I was willing to pay the extra to know I was getting the right and well made fabric I wanted.
If you do, start on something small. The "stuff" from "somebody" is proven in what seems to be easily workable material, so if you do take the plunge try a small piece first. That's just my .02.
Yup, any variant on the material and it could change the whole outcome of the finished product.
The material that "somebody" had is extremely thin and flexible. It almost felt like solidified paint held together by a screen backing but much more durable. It's very silky and drapes over objects.
I wouldn't want to cover the center console with anything heavier than that.

^^^ awesome. Yeah i love it because it's not as distractive as gloss CF...and *gasp* it's lighter than 99% of all overlays out there.
Our plastic center consoles are truly pieces of shiet. I don't even know how I got half the scratches on there but now problem solved.

I am interested somebody I sent you a PM hit me back i want some of this stuff looks way better than my Blah interior
IMO people throw around the term "dry carbon" way too loosely. To my knowledge there isn't a single dry CF interior piece available. Everything I have ever seen available (either through a company or custom fabricator) is wet CF. Dry carbon is a completely different process then laying wet CF, is much more expensive, and wouldn't make any sense to use in an application where you are covering an original piece as the point of dry carbon is that it is lighter and stronger than a comparable wet CF or fiberglass piece. Dry CF does not mean matte in look, it means it's pre-preg resin versus laying the weave down and covering it in resin which is what all of the products available are.
To answer your question, IMO whats the difference? Neither is saving weight and both are literally gaining weight, in fact I believe an actual overlay or CF wrap job would be heavier. So basically, if you like the way this looks go for it. It's cheaper and probably lighter than alternatives available. If people think it's cheesy, whatever, so is overlaying pieces to make them look "light" but actually making them heavier. For me personally, I wouldn't do anything like this and would rather companies make REAL products that replace the original pieces. In either case most of our car's interior is cheap plastic which is relatively light and wouldn't save much weight anyway.

Here is mine.. I wouldn't do the whole center console if I had to do it again. It was a b*tch to do.. I still have to do a fine cut around the heated seats area and either lay in some carbon there, or paint it or something. I'm undecided at this point so I am not doing anything just yet..

^^ that looks fantastic. I still think i would **** something up lol. Ive never done anything like this before. That would be so much easier to clean then stock as well. I wanna do my entire center console and the door switch covers.
