Nismo spoiler too heavy for stock strut bars?
After the installation of my Nismo spoiler, I have problems unlatching the trunk. One click of either the remote button or of the button above the license plate just pops the trunk a little bit. It doesn't actually unlock. Another push of the appropriate button and the trunk unlocks.
I thought this might be secondary to the weight of the spoiler, so I removed the little weight under the trunk. It didn't really help.
Vics350 mentioned that when he got his stock spoiler installed, the dealer said they replaced the strut bars with something a little stronger to help raise the trunk.
Anybody else having this problem or have some suggestions as to solving it?

i have the full kit on my car and the spoiler seems to be fine. i can pop open the trunk no problem. the first few times it had to be pressed and extra time (and occasionally it does it now). but, for the most part...it works fine.
edit - i just went outside to try it. it got stuck once and the second time it opened fine. guess it's tempermental! haha.

there is one. You need to take the interior panel off and just remove the weights thats on the hatch. Someone post pics on the remove WAAAAAY back cause the hatch was doing what you said without the spoiler. Nissan put weights so the hatch don't just fly open when you open it.

I have a NISMO spoiler too and probs w/ the trunk opening.
I haven't tried to remove the weights (if they are there), but another option would be to have stronger springs that are on either side of the back compartment installed. They are each covered with a rubber boot that extend up from the car's body on the outer edge of each side of the hatch...near the middle.
The struts are for suspending the body, not the trunk.
Right now, I just put my forearm under the spoiler and push up as I push the trunk button on the key FOB.

I doubt there is much weight difference between the Nismo and replica.
VA, you're right, I think replacing the stock spring bumpers would make more sense than replacing the struts. I hope I'm using terminology appropriately, it sounds like I'm speaking about the suspension.
I'm not sure how to go about getting such parts.
