Fuel Cap Release Button
I hope this doesn't sound like a really stupid question but here goes anyway.......I was out enjoying my 2005 Roadster today (bought in December and only just recently insured) I had gassed up in Dec and put the car away for the winter. Today was the first time I had to gas up and I'm not sure why the release button wasn't working and the filler door wasn't opening. I proceeded to press a little firmer while the attendant felt around for a release point of some sort . The fuel filler door finally opened with the attendant's help but while I was pressing the button it just collapsed into the dash....no more button ? Sounds like a pretty flimsy set up to me. The filler door was sticking for whatever reason...lack of use , cold temperatures etc......What is my next step besides the obvious and have the stealer look at it. Is it an easy fix? I can feel the button and some taped up electrical connector through my newly formed hole. Thanks for any advice in advance.
This happened to me once before when I first bought my car. I was able to pop it back into place somehow...I think there was a way to reach beneath and pop it back in. It was a pretty easy fix.

I had this happen too I just pushed it from behind back into place you really dont have to push hard for the button to work. Sounds liek to fuel door was stuck.

The '03 was famous for not releasing without multiple clicks - i solved it by realigning the hatch door. It has an adjustable slot on one of the screws. Since I did that, it opens first click every time. But I have the same reoccurring problem with the switch itself, and I don't push it hardly at all. It just never really seats into place.
A few years ago when I had just purchased my Z I did the same thing as the gas station. I'd push it, walk around and see it didn't open, and repeated doing this like 5 times. Then I got
pissed and pushed it really hard and like a magic trick the button was gone. It's a quick fix, the button just pops back into place.
As far as the actual fix, yeah either try WD-40 on the fuel door hinge or you may have to realign your fuel door.
