bought a CF hood (yeh im the guinea pig)..need help though
the edge of the hood, where they attach the stock latch, yes. but no x brace or anything of that nature in the middle.. no need.
the reason for carbon hood is to keep the weight down (traditionally)
hood pins attach to your front frame section or sides of the fender.
where ever you can get a hard mount.

the best hood pins are the ones that have the cotterpins that slide into a rig.. ala single unit so some jackhole cant swipe your cotter pins.
cusco makes a good set.. ~$50 for two... you can always get generic ones-- mister Gasket co. makes a cheap set for $13 but they are the removable cotter pin style..

get the hood pins with the lock and key. they on are on the rsx in the sig. the pins are made by cusco. they pins cost $60, and the same price for install. so basically $120 for everything. i would strongly suggest you not to do this yourself as i heard that it is hazardous to breathe in the carbon fiber. also the installation looked pretty difficult.

mgl..there are 4 types of cusco pins (i did some searching)
they are called type 1 2 3 and 4
on some sites it says that types 1 and 2 are stronger
any idea which ones you have
and do you have a closeup pic...preferrably of the underside of the hood
if not any info is appreciated
thanks

if you are drilling into carbon fiber
USE PROTECTION AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
wear long sleeves, taped up at the wrists and use rubber gloves (dish washer type)
Carbon fiber is very dangerous to your health if the dust is inhales.. use a high filtration device for a mask, and in a well ventilated area.
if carbon strands come in contact with the skin it will feel itchy. DO NOT SCRATCH IT! it will just embed it self into the skin even more, use DUCT tape or high-sticky packaging tape lay it on the skin and lift up and away to get as much of the dust off as possible, then wash with COLD water to close your pores.. i cant stress this enough.... carbon is nasty and will take a long time for your body to decompose it-- if ever.
before cutting/drilling already cured carbon, set up tape/masking tape over your the hole you wish to make.. on the top and bottom to prevent splintering. use a high speed drill and sharp/preferrably new drill bit and go gradual sizing.. from small drill bit to larger until you fit your size hood pin. if you go too big to fast you might crack the carbon.
have a friend use a vaccuum underneath the hood so you dont have a chance to suck up the dust particles...
just a warning if you plan on installing pins yourself..
also.. look at sparco.. they're just as nice as the cusco ones.
