well my hatch doesn't always stay up and im too lazy to get new trunk struts...so i figure if this piece is useless and it weights a 1++pounds, it would help keep the hatch up..

If you remove it, let me know if it helps with your hatch... my trunk struts never work in the cold, although I don't think it will be enough weight differnce to help

all of the german forum guys removed this. makes sence when you´ve a rear wing installed so the hatch stays open! i think it´s about 2pounds.....and as you know every pound counts

I used to have to pop the trunk twice to get it to open, but after I removed this piece it works the first try.

Hatch weight.

to prevent the hatch from 'shooting up' from the pressures of the gas shock.

remove this when placing an aftermarket wing (such as Nismo wing) to the hatch. does no real other purpose other than this... dead weight.

I wonder if this is what is rattling in my trunk. I just got an exhaust and at 2k rpm wow there is some sort of metallic rattling in my hatch area. I did the hatch rattle fix DIY but that wasnt it. Maybe its this or the windshield wiper. No clue

the center piece has flexible hinges and if one broke it might cause a rattle...idk
i took mine off and the bolts were on really tight.
the thing weighs like 3-4pounds if anyone was wondering

my hatch opens a little better now...it's negligible though
