Default Demon Eye Question??

There is a little cast piece inside the HID housing that is between the lens and the bulb. this little piece flips back and forth, im guessing when the light turns on. does anyone know the exact purpose of this piece? and would it be a good place to mount the LEDs for the Demon Eye?

It is the cutoff shield and it provides the pattern projected from the headlight onto the road. This piece gets extremely hot and would burn up LED's within a short period of time. In fact, my opinion based on experience with projector retrofitting and colormodding is that anything mounted anywhere inside of the projector or even near it gets too hot and will significantly decrease the lifetime of the LED

The shield that retracts when you put on your high beams.

I hope these help. I took some shots to give you some sort of reference point. I'm not a photographer so the picture quality is not the best, and yes, I have a scratch on my lens that I need to buff out.
