08 center console blank
I'm a new owner with what was once a stock 08 base. I hardwired a gps into the cubby using a 12v power source and it looks mad sweet son! If anyone wants to know how I did this there are plenty of threads on dash removal but if you have wiring questions message me.
Anywayz, removing and reinstalling the center console was a pain in rear for a someone inexperienced like me but do-able. I should have laid down a towel or something because I scratched the hell out of this blank center console piece. I don't have an ashtray and would like to put one in there. Anyone done this? The ashtray would be a coin holder or something. I don't think the older model ashtray fits...Anybody have any ideas or know the part number to replace that little blank?

Check these guys out. While cruising their e-bay auctions, I'm certain I saw an ashtray thingy that goes there on stock 05's.
I put my sub-woofer gain control in mine.

WAIZZZ, I'll get a pic up tomorrow after work. I did the i3 mount with a garmin 265wt. It has traffic and blue tooth. The traffic and navi reception is great. The blue tooth not so much. The hood closes just fine. Others on here have done this so this is not new but certainly one of the cleanest mods you can do to the Z for a couple bucks plus the navi.
Re: the blank, I image searched the nismo blank and you all are right on. However, I'm not putting nismo plate in my base. That's straight rice-a-roni and I want to keep my Z clean. Maybe I'll just order another blank or find someone online who sells a plate that just says Z on it.

For those that are doing the install on 07 and 08's: Use the light green wire that goes into your head unit to tap into for power. That wire is the 12v wire that you want for installs in the cubby. Ground goes to a bolt on the frame that holds the center console in place. You cannot ground to just any metal piece like the head unit or the case.

Better late than never
Here are a few pics of the installed gps. The unit is a garmin 265wt wide screen. The pics make it look smaller than it is. It actually fits very well with very little space on sides and none on the top and bottom. I get a lot of compliments that it looks factory.
Could someone please tell me where I can get an aluminum insert where the nismo plaque would go. I would even buy that now after looking around the net and finding ZERO options other than going to that courtesy nissan website and getting the stock plastic piece for like 30 bucks with shipping.
I found this link http://www.pogiparts.de/product_info...b034c52102ec71
but that doesnt have anything either.

Thanks for posting the pics.
I think you may be better off leaving that area alone, unless you want to create a custom mount for your smart phone or Ipod.
I'm sure a local audio shop could fab up something small and cover it in black fabric and you could place it in the area by cutting out a hole.
The plaque may look out of place, but thats just my opinion.
Or you can wait until you want coilovers and that could be the place that you mount your Tein EDFC

I actually thought of doing that myself, but after giving it some more thougth I decided not to do it because the sound of the turn by turn direction is trapped in the cuby and you hear it very low. Second I rather have the GPS at 10 degree-ish angle so Im not taking my eyes off the road for too long if I have to look at the GPS. That's just my opinion. If you like it and works works for you, right on brother.

I did this install today myself and was trying to be careful only to find i scratched the same piece as you on my install. lol. let me know if you find any inserts. I may just make my own metal piece and have it engraved if i cant find anything.
