Go to the dealership and ask them to install it. If they want to charge you, tell them that 1) You paid for a official nismo product, and least they can do is spend 10 minutes to install in for you..
if that fails,
2) It's not your fault the shift **** doesn't come off easily, and you want it checked out because that just isn't natural.

Chances are they'll just say **** it and do it for you. Took my dealer 30-40 minutes, but some have taken 10.. guess my shifter was just being a pain in the ***.

Well, you guys were right. The CF shift **** does spin when you use a little effort. I can only see it getting worse over time. So I said nevermind and got the titanium one. It's cool enough I guess. They had to use one wrench under the shift boot and a water pump wrench (huge) to spin it off. This is how the manual says to do it. It actually has a pic of the water pump wrench in it. If you don't hold the bottom of the shifter under the boot while you twist the top you can easily damage the transmission since the shifter goes straight into it. Be careful when doing this yourself!

Yes you do stick the pattern on the top. If you don't get the alignment just right you could just twist the **** a little.

question how mucher darker is that titanium shifter than the brushed accent around the shift boot. does it clash or is it cool?

cant really tell by the pic
I think it looks fine. I haven't noticed it clashing. You will get more power in reverse since this shift **** gives us the "Type-R" reverse as you can see.

Also, I just liked the NISMO logo to face the back. You can tighten it a little more or less.

I think there may have been a production run that they forgot to put them in the box. The black piece is NEEDED and not optional. The shift boot is spring loaded and won't go up to the **** without the rubber piece. I think that when you buy the **** you should ask for the piece since is is missing from the box. I think, if I am not mistaken, that it is on the instruction list of parts. It was not in my box. It might not be on the list I can't remember. But you do need it.

This is the best place for you to get one. The best prices and I hear Jeff is very customer oriented.

that black finisher plastic is inside the foam packaging, a lot of people DONT pay attention to the inside of the box and completely forget it.. maybe thats why so many people are complaining.

I installed the nismo **** last night and my customer said the same thing "where is this plastic clip they are talking about" -- I told him "did you bother looking INSIDE the foam packaging" ...a bout 10 seconds later you hear a big "oooooooooh!!!!!!! there it is!"

hehe oh boy.
