My car was backed into and I have to replace the headlight housing.
I have a an 03' track with hid's. Can I swap all the hid hardware into a base housing? Because my car is an 03' the insurance company is saying that its $220.57 for a reconditioned headlight.

You may just have to butt heads with the insurance co. on this one. If the car came stock with HID's don't settle for anything less, and personally, I'd tell them to shove it if they told me I had to use reconditioned parts.

Its state law because the car is older than 06' they can do this. I think the guy screwed up and quoted a nonhid but anyway can these housings be swapped or what?
I bought some OEM base lights to get lenses off of for my 06 lights. Granted I've never seen an 03-05 HID housing before, but I can tell you that at the very minimum you will have to dremel off the mounting spot for your ballast. The base housing has the spot clearly marked and indented, but there isn't a hole there since those don't need a ballast. The only piece I'm not sure of, is whether the D2R bulb would seat correctly in the halogen mount. Rest should all be the same.
