Default odometer reading?

does the cluster itself store this information, or is it the ECU or BCM?? my cluster has a major crack in the lense, and i need to know if i can simply swap clusters, or i need to do something else.

the cluster holds the odo info. if you switch it out, like i already did bc it gave incorrect info, you'll need to send it out to match the old odo, which i didnt do

Good question. I read the function of the unified meter control unit several times. Manual reads:

The record of the odo meter is kept even if the battery cable is disconnected. The record of the trip meter
is erased when the battery cable is disconnected.

I assume record is kept means that the memory is non-volatile.

What kind of incorrect info did you get?
I think mine may be fast.
On one of my normal routes, I get 14.8 miles in my other car, I got 14.8 in a rental Altima but in my Z, it reads 15.0

How can I get my odometer switched by the dealer?
Better yet, how can a dealer even verify this?

Check with your DMV about switching odometers. They may have some sort of validation process.
