Default veilside lip fitment

Has anyone had problems with the veilside lip fitting perfect on the 03-06 bumper?? I just had mine painted and installed at a local body shop and they were pissed! They've had it for 2 days and said it was because they had to do a lot of modifications and refrabricate some of the fiberglass to make it fit perfect??? and also had to paint it twice. I told them if they had a problem with it fitting to not even do it and i'll put it on myself.. Has anyone else really had that much of problem with fitment??

What year is your car?

an 03 lip is different than an 06 lip.

Yup, obviously he would know. That lip might be for the 03-05. What year is your Z?

It is made to fit tight so that you can do minor sanding in areas to "loosen" it up.

If we made a lip that was too loose, that would be MUCH more of a problem. Adding material to a part is much more work than sanding excess gel coat off...

I installed my authentic V1 lip myself on my '06 Z and had a few issues, specifically with the lip fitting too 'tight' in a couple spots. I actually ended up cracking one of the corners because I did not have the front centered perfectly, which caused too much pressure on one side and cracked it. If I had to do it again I would have done more test-fitting and sanding. I think I agree with Brian, tighter is better because you can always take material away. But this is also why they recommend having a reuptable body shop do all the work.

well the body shop (which is very good) said they had to do a good bit of work it make it fit.. i mean it looks great now.. but you can still tell its not perfect especially in the center piece. the left side fits in the groove perfect... but it fit so tight that no matter what u do u couldnt get the right(driver side) to fit in like it should. luckily its not very noticeable.. but i'll take a close up pic tmrw to show everyone what i'm talking about.
