the hub comes with a air bag light bypass fuse, it disables the air bag lights....supposingly. I tried to plug in the air bag sensors, but it didn't work...suspecting that maybe US model and Japanese model are different? Well, I got my purchaser to call Japan for me, I will post up the details later.

Rabbits foot was from my girl when she went to Quebec and bought it back as a souvenir. Tryied to take it off but she got pissed, haha .

well, more mods coming, some performance mods finally. I got a basic idea of all the parts I want, just takin my time and getting them slowly. But I promise you guys won't be disappointed.

Z rules!!

There are no cruise control on all Japanese spec 350Z as I understand, and I think the reason is that there are NO STRAIGHT HIGHWAY in Japan. All Highway in Japan are a continous snake, this was decided long ago as the best way to prevent drivers from sleeping from driving on long trips. Maybe thats why there isn't cruise control on this thing.

Not quite, my friend.

There are straight highways, both old and new, in Japan. It's just that it's not THAT staight, like you see in some parts of US.
You're right when you say that the highway is a continuous snake, but that's not because they are made to avoid drivers from sleeping. It's cause there are a lot of mountains. (morethan 80% of the whole land area are mountains)
There is a damn straight undersea tunnel in Tokyo area too. It's called Tokyo Aqualine, more than 10 kilos long, TOTALLY straight. (plus the first 2 - 3 kilos is a sharp downhill) Former F1 driver Shinji Nakano drove his F50 at 330 km/h there.

Cruise control is not popular at all here in Japan. The average travelling time by car is less than an hour. Even when you go far, the amount of traffic is so much that cruise control is simply worthless. (by the way we have a Honda with a radar cruise control with automatic steering system plus auto emergency brake system)

So the momo airbag is a genuine Nissan option here. Yes it is available to most of the Nissan cars, including Cima, Skyline, Fairlady Z, Stagea, Primera, March, etc.
To tell you the truth I've seen more than 30 or 40 350Zs at the meeting, but not one of the members had this momo on his car.
I guess this is not a popular selection. I didn't put this either.

Welcome to the board and thank you for the explanation Haji. Actually Nocturnal from Macau wrote the explanation for lack of cruise control, but thank you for clarifying it in further detail.

In regard to that particular Momo steering wheel, is there any chance you could find out if it's possible to purchase it outright and if so how much (with and without an airbag)? I contacted Momo and asked if they sell it directly to the public and they said it was only available from Nissan. I would really appreciate any information you could spread on this.

Finally, is your steering wheel the same as the one we have here? Thanks again for any help!

Fairladyz33, sorry to be "highjacking" your thread.

Hi,

Concerning the momo airbag, I think you have to "grey import" if it is not available at your local Nissan dealers. Private import is not impossible, but I think it'd be difficult cause usually airbags are considered as "dangerous (explosive) items".
FYI the regarding steering wheel costs about 63,000 Yen. Expensive? Well they even have a wood-leather momo airbag steering wheel (4 spokes) for 83,000 Yen.

As far as I know the steering wheels are the same for all 350Z worldwide. But in the UK spec it seems that there is also a two-tone (orange / black) leather interior option. You should be able to find the photos in www.nissan.co.uk

Hope this would help you all.

News. Nissan lauched the roadster here just today. I got the brochure and there was a new momo airbag steering wheel.
It was again a dealer's option which will be available from December. The price was 63,000 yen.
I haven't checked, but it looks just like the one on the Mitsubishi Evolution 8. If it's the same, it would be cool cause it is very thin (my hands aren't big) and lightweight. The colour was black leather with red stitch. Looked nice.

The website was not updated yet => http://www.nissan.co.jp/Z/

Track car? How you going to steer fast with that remote control getting in your way all the time?

First, when I go to Track, I take the remote off, it is only 2 screws.

Second, I ain't going to finish my car in just a matter of weeks, I still drive this car to work everyday, and the transformation is in slow progress.

I seem to be detecting some negative vibe here....all I can say is, relax....I jsut wanted to show you guys what a Nismo Wheel looks like on a Z, geez. I thought that was what this forum is for?

A lot of people are interested in, and sincerely appreciate, you posting pictures of your steering wheel modification. Case in point, as of right now 1285 people have viewed this thread. Unfortunately there are some people that don't seem to understand (possibly unknowingly) that non-productive comments will only hurt the forum in the future as someone may decide not to post a modification just for this reason. Again, thank you for posting this thread and your picture. It has helped a lot of people which is the purpose of this forum.

So is this a forum where people discuss things, or is this just a board where people post pictures? Becouse somehow I got the idea it's a forum... and one allowed to post replies... Otherwise we wouldn't have a window for reply... just two buttons
<yes, I like it>
<yes, I like it very much>

hmm... even in this case somebody would start worrying about <yes, I like it> being negative comment.

fairlady z,

how did you bypass the airbag sensor? there are 2 "plugs" i'm guessing one is the power for the airbag, and the other is the airbag sensor itself. if its not bypassed, the sensor light will blink intermittently.
