Factory Tint
with the exception of the windshield, most factory glass has some tint to it.
check your back glass to see if there are any of the following markings on it.
AS1 = clear (windshield)
AS2 = tinted (door glass)
AS3 = privacy (back door glass, 1/4 glass and back glass. typically found on SUV's and Minivans)

I will be putting the tint on myself. That is why I wanted to know what percentages. And I didn't want to get in trouble with the cops for putting a darker non-factory recommondation percentages. The weird thing is that I actually called up Nissan, and they didn't even know what percentages it was.
They simply just told me they recommend safety percentages, which tells me nothing at all.
By the look of it, I think I will go for 35% or 40%. I don't want it too dark. Any recommendation?

First off, tint laws are different depending on which state you live in.
You should try looking that up before you consider this.
Second, most cars from the factory do not tints the windows expect the rears which is usually 20% or 35%.
Take a look at my pictures if you want to get an idea of what 35% looks like all around.

All the glass on our cars except the windshield has a tint to it.
It has the AS2 marking, which means it is tempered with at least 70% light transmission. Ever notice a greenish tint on them? If not, hold a piece of paper to it.
Check with your state law before applying aftermarket tint.
Most cops already know about these markings.
Certain state laws says 30% tint is ok. This means 30% aftermarket tint on AS2 glass makes it illegal because AS2 glass does not have 100% visibility to begin with. The law was probably written that way for the manufacturers and not the consumers.
yeah, they get thier panties in a bunch about it around here, especially up by my parents house. I only have 30% so they dont give me much of a hassle, but I think anything lower than 20% and they will certainly try and bust you.
Factories do not appliy tint. The glass itself is manufactured with it.

Didn't want to explain all that.
Rear window - most states rear tint doesn't matter what you get......its front windows and roll ups where the law comes into play, so i doubt you have to worry about that...
i would call a local tint shop and ask if there is a law on how dark you can go in the rear, thats probably the easiest way to find out...
other than that, i would just get what you like.......

Though I know for a fact it's much lighter than 35%, when I got my windows tinted I got them tinted down to 35%.
