Default Key being Cut, Need to know something?

Well I got a Blank Key Combo w/ Remote from ebay, anyway I was able to program the remote, but didn't get the black cut yet. Here's the situlation, I called the Dealership and they wanted $50 to cut the key, They said that it needs to be program so It would start the car.

Is that true? or it is just BS?

Anyone who has brought a Blank from ebay or anywhere else beside the dealership, were you able to just bring your key to any place that cuts them and without any "PROGRAMING" and it fired up your car?

Thanks in advance.

IT's true! The key must be programed. I wish mine was only $50.

It's true. All your keys need to be there for the reprogramming, or the old ones won't work anymore.

50$ is cheap. They charge 100$ here for key/cut.

100% true. Pretty much true on all cars these days. Every car I have had in the last almost 10 years has had a key that needed to be programmed if repalced.

yes and no....

if you have two keys, they can program the 3rd for 50 bucks they quoted you. If you only have one key, the whole system has to be reprogrammed..... and most likely will cost you more than the 50 they quoted you.
