Default 2006 HID headlight problem

Hey guys, I have a 2006 350z with the HID headlights. When standing back the passenger headlight looks very dim. I thought initially that it may be just out of alignment and low. But if you pull up to a garage or block wall you can see that the beam is level with the drivers headlamp. I have heard something that this may be due to some sort of aperture mechanism in the headlight? Does anyone have any experience with this.

The headlight is brand new and is not burnt out.

thanks for any help...

passenger side shouldn't be level with the driver's side. This is to prevent blinding on coming traffic. I forget which side should be lower, and since you are in Canada, I am sure its might be the opposite.

I know that but when you stand in front of the car and look the passenger side light (which is into the ditch) is not nearly as bright until you crouch down. But when shinning against a wall etc. the passenger light beam is actually a bit higher than the drivers side...which makes no sense to me. thats wh I was wondering if maybe it has to do with the aperture mechanism I have been hearing about. Or could it be a loose connection like a bad ground?? any ideas?

I put a set of HID's in my mazda 3 a while back, and I had the driver side in perfect but the passenger side looked wierd, so I went back, checked the bulbs and the passenger side clip that held the bulb in had came loose and the bulb was hanging out of the socket a little bit. So i clipped it back in and haven't had any problem since.. So check your bulbs!!

Check your bulbs and make sure they're mounted right side up.
