Default Window Motor

Hi today my drivers side window would not roll down anymore (pass side is fine)
I searched and it seems like the window motor is gone correct ? Just wanna make sure I was a bit confused... Also I know you can clean it first and see if it helps but id rather just replace it since I heard the problem comes back.

Also can I use an aftermarket window motor ? or does it have to be OEM ?

Well it could be your motor or an electrical issue. If you have a voltmeter you can check the motor to see if it's getting voltage. If it is then it's the window motor. if you get 0 volts than you have some type of electrical issue. Do you hear the window motor trying to move at all?

An easy way to tell is by holding the button down bang on the arm rest part. Chances are if its the carbon build up that usually screws these it will be knocked loose and work. Or while holding the button open and then close the door if you don't want to bang on your door a bit. That trick will work for a little while and then the motor will just go out on you completely.

Acme auto or like auto zone sell refurbished motors but they tend to go as well. Like i bought them a year ago and they are not working again, but they replaced them for free under warranty. It's still wicked annoying.

these cars have the window motor issue.

ive replaced my passenger motor 3 times since last november.
wicked annoying is right. one day when i have the time im going to check the volts going to it then compare it with the drivers side .. maybe its getting too much juice and causing a short... i dont have a fix for it and cleaning it yourself is just a waist of time.
good luck to ya, btw... you will get faster and faster at replacing them, it happens so often

Yea the banging thing works well along with a good door slam but eventually that wont do it anymore. One trick i learned it when it does work as long as you dont put the window totally down or up it will work for some reason. I cleaned the motor too over winter and it worked like three times so that is a waste.
