How can I smoke my own tail lights, what do I need? I heard there was a film that you can use with the heat gun to smoke the tail lights yourself, or can I spray paint it myself? Any advice?

you can use the black film or you can use transparent black paint that are used on model cars.

Use VHT Tint..

its a spray tint and looks great, but make sure you apply it properly.

After application, you should wetsand it and then get it professionally clearcoated. Then the lights will look like glass!

Thanks for the ideas doods! My bro says the VHT tint will probably be the most durable in the hot Cali sun. I'll let yall know what the outcome is.

i smoked out the rear turn signals and the front clear reflector on my car with a film. this way i can easily remove it in the future w/o any damage. if you use a spray, its permanent. also, becareful with the smoked taillights as you may be targeted by cops with nothing else better to do than pull you over.

Thanks for the advice, but I don't want them to be super dark, just a little bit on the burgundy side. Do you have any pics? Thanks!

there are pics somewhere on the forum......
and i didn't do my taillights. the film is very time consuming to make sure that there are no bubbles or wrinkles. anyways the tailights are too big and i'm too lazy.

i reccomned you dont do the taillights...i did my rear turn signals and front ambers with the same film that mgl is talking about....it takes a bit of cutting but its really looking good

smoking the taillights is one of the most unneccesary mods to do to this car

trust me i love the aspect of changing things but i dont know about this one..

btw..it sorta matters what color your car is

I have a SS. I bought the smoked amber turn signals and they look good on my car, I just feel like a dope cuz I could've done it myself instead of having gone to buy them. Smoked taillights aren't a big deal, I just need a change, and I like the way they look. I have no $$ otherwise to be getting rims, body kits etc. so this will be something different w/o having to spend a lot of cash. Unless you want to buy me some rims??? j/k
