Default Shine DAMD diffuser... questionable quality

I just got my diffuser and I gotta say it just does not look right... There's a clear line in sight like it's glued together on the two side pieces and the fibers are so spread apart light can pass through... . I bought this 'cus I expected Shine to be of good quality. I just hope this is a bad batch or something. Other Shine diffuser owners want to share how theirs is like?

When using a two piece mold you will get a line or if you have to wrap a fiberglass part there will be a line somewhere. And you can also see through many carbon products depending on how think the fiberglass is or clarity of the resin. For reference, you could see light through my mastergrade rear diffuser.

hmm...well you shouldnt really worry about light going through it. You wont be looking straight down at it often...

I just dont think this piece looks very good in plain weave. Plain weave only looks good if the carbon is laid very well and is straight...and this obviously isnt it. The authentic one has twill weave.

If it really bothers you, you can always put a layer of black paint or something on the backside.

As someone who is on his second Shine DamD style diffuser, you got one of their better pieces. Both my first and second diffuser are nothing as good as what you got from them.

Buy the real thing if you want it to be perfect... It's a hit or miss with replicas really. Sometimes you'll get a good part sometimes there will be a flaw.

As they say "you pays your money you take your chance"
I looked at getting one of these from shine aways back, they told me at the time that there will always be an issue as it's a 2 piece mold and single weave. In fact they stopped production for a short while because they were unhappy with the mold they were using....

Shine rumors to be hit and miss. I am not quite sure if your specific piece is of
dubious quality, although most parts I see from them installed seem to be 8-9
of 10.

If it makes you feel any better, I have the amuse carbon diffuser and the mold comes together all the way across the very front. After talking with Ken he suggested that I could get a coat of tinted clear that would cover alot of defects and lines that are associated with making these parts the way they do. If I could do it over again, I would have gotten just a clear instead of tinted clear. My diffuser looks black in most situations now instead of a carbon gray.

My lines are a lot WORSE and more noticeable.
Also my pieces have a lot more resin in them, so some places are actually WHITE instead of Carbon.
If you want it to be perfect go buy the original the quality is much better.

As for Shine their products are normally top notch, but when it comes to this piece it's not so great.

hmm, ic. Didn't really expect it to be perfect, but just expected it to be like the pics shown when i bought it lol. *sigh*

On a side note, how do u mount these things? just double sided tape? or i gotta drill some holes through it. Tried searching for 'DAMD installation' and didn't find much.

Just like it says in the original post that you bought it from, you have to drill holes in your bumper

I always debate buying parts, making diffusers/splitters etc and then I realize almost always in order to mount them you have to drill holes in your bumpers . I am just thinking ahead for when I am trying to sell it.
