Default Vertex front lip fitment issues

So got a brand new front lip from vertex.

went into the shop to install and they called me back saying no way its going to fit.

i'v never heard of this? i have only heard GOOOD things about vertex.

BUT the shop is VERY reputable. hmmm

the circle part is where they are telling me its not fitting.

any suggestions?

Pics of it close up on those spots as best as you can fit it on the car would be helpful.

Suprised, though, Vertex=good. Does the shop do much custom work or just straight collision body shop?

You need to GO TO THE BODY SHOP AND HAVE THEM SHOW YOU WHY IT WONT FIT, then take pictures.

Im assuming you understand that 03-05 has different lip fittment than 06-08, correct?

Collision body shops dont see many "lips" brought into their shops, thats why i always go custom body shops for work with kits. They have done it time and again and know exactly what problems can happen and what you and they can do to fix them if need be.

Many "collision" body shops will try and put it on, and if it doesnt fit PERFECT, they tell you it wont fit period. It requires a little knowledge of the aftermarket body parts market.

^True. In my (limited) experience, even authentic aftermarket kits are still, well, aftermarket, and while they fit well or can be made to fit well with minimal tweaking, it's rare for something to fit up as nicely as an OEM piece.

i have the whole vertex lip kit with the wing and have no problems with their fitment. my bodyshop said it fitted perfect and even if it didnt fit well a body shop CAN and should be able to make almost anything fit if they know what they're doing.

you should also ask if they removed the bumper for test fit. As you should already know the OEM bumper is polyurethane. In many cases i've seen as far as lip installs go, the bumper has a lot more play if removed, and you will be able to guage fitment much netter vs. taping or holding the lip to the bumper while it is on the car, which is probably what this shop did. It should line up much better with the bumper off the car, especially if it's authentic.

So you're going to make something up for what purpose? That sounds like just about the stupidest tactic I can think of

Why not go down there and make them show you where it's not fitting correctly. Who knows, they may be right.

out rages?

again, what year is your z? do you have an 03-05? or an 06-08? They have different front bumpers and could be the cause of the issues.

1. What year is your Z?
2. What year lip did you buy?

If the shop is saying it's not fitting especially the part where you circled, you are trying to match the lip with the wrong year bumper.

I'll ask one more time... what year is your Z? The lip kit is made for the 03-05 models not the 06+. I had the lip kit on my 05 before I upgraded to the full Vertex bumper kit.
