What to do to my center console?
Well here's what I did. I know it looks bad with the stock radio but it's something I wanted and it looked better than stock IMO. I'm getting a new head unit this week though so that should help as well. But with the Nismo **** and the console I like it a lot.
^ I know, and it's going back in for paint so I'm prolly going to have the door painted as well. I actually bought this of a member on here but he didn't prep it right and even better didn't tell me about it. The stress marks are starting to show so I have to take the thing out and sand it down and do it the right way.....But with that done and a new head unit it should look mint!!
grrr.. just installed mine - painted shifter and wrapped console but my dad took off with the digi cam. Will get some pics next week
Looking good everybody but I would not clear or paint silver just me though

Gloss black looks alot like stock. Thats not really a bad thing though. Its really hard for me to picture anything else in my head that would look good other than black.
But...if money wasnt an issue, id get it wrapped in leather with some contrasting stitching.

Thanks guys. Sanding down the texture was a b*tch... and I kinda wish I didn't sand it smooth. I didn't mind the texture.
Gloss black would be too shiny/glarey IMO. I stayed away from gloss, but if I get sick of this before I get rid of the car, I'll try satin silverstone or something close to the aluminum trim, and add little scuffs to match the brushed aluminum pattern.
I'll see if I can get better pics later when I'm out in the light.

Thanks 2k6.
I thought about wrapping it in leather. What I'd do is drill bunches of tiny, tiny holes along the edges of the plastic pieces I wanted to wrap, so I could stitch through at those points.

This might not appeal to you if you're wanting a different look for the interior. But, last week I picked up a can of Krylon flat black to fix I some bad scratches I had from installing my head unit. Its the typical Indoor/Outdoor variety. I sprayed it on a foam brush and dry brushed it onto my center console and on my cupholder lid and it was as close to perfect as you can get. So, if you were just wanting to go back to a perfect stock look, I would definitely pick some up, sand and repaint.
I want to do this on my console. Everything is sitting on my dining room table waiting for my LEDs and gauge covers to come in. I would like to do it in silverstone (like the outside of my car). What's the best way to do this? I don't want to screw this up. I like the look of DemitriHKS console. I think that would look sick in my car. Need to know what to do and what not to do. Thanks!
